Protect Public Sector Pensions

The Liberal Government’s decision to raid surplus funds from the Federal Public Service Pension Plan threatens the retirement security of over 700,000 workers. These funds were built through hard-earned contributions by public service workers who deserve fairness and stability.

Instead of focusing on internal party politics, the Liberal government has a responsibility to rebuild trust and protect retirement security.

PSAC has proposed three fair and reasonable solutions to address the pension surplus:

  • Reverse the two-tier system introduced in 2012, which unfairly denies newer employees the same benefits as long-time workers.
  • Ensure equitable retirement options for frontline workers by allowing an unreduced pension after 25 years of service.
  • Suspend employee pension contributions to match the suspension of government contributions, ensuring fairness and equity.

Your voice matters. Email your Member of Parliament today to ask them to advocate for PSAC’s fair and reasonable solutions instead of betraying workers in Canada.

Together, we can protect retirement security for public service workers and all Canada.
